Food For Thought

Last night I had a dream. I will give you the reader's digest version. I had a dream that I was in some water. There was a pier, me in the middle, and my family was on a little inflatable boat on the other side of me. I saw an alligator, and I told my family, help me, there is an alligator. I can't swim(my dad threw me in the water when little, and I got scared and never learned) I somehow made it to the pier. When I turned around to look at my family, I only saw the children, and they were looking down at the water. My beloved had jumped into the water to help me, and never resurfaced. At that point I forced myself to wake up. the Lord bought to my mind the verse, 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
This morning as I was driving to the supermarket I was meditating on that verse when I happen to come upon two little ducklings in the middle of the street. The mother duck was on the sidewalk with the rest of her ducklings. She looked at the two in the middle of the street picking at something, and she put her head in the grass and started to forage. That was it, she didn't call them, she didn't help them, nothing. The Lord impressed me that I need to make sure I am not like that mother duck foraging on the side of the street, while my little ducklings are in the middle of the street unprotected. I need to protect them from the roaring lion looking to devour them. I need to protect them in every sense; physcially, emotionally, spiritually, etc. These are His children. He paid for them with His blood. They are on loan to me to raise for Him. I don't know about you, but when someone lends me something, I am sure to take extra good care of it. I need to make sure that at the end time I hear the words, ...Well done, good and faithful servant...Matthew 25:23

What a great message. I blogged a little about something like that this morning. I have been pondering that for a few days now.

Children are precious. They belong to God and are on loan to all of us. Because there are so many parents who do not introduce their children to church or talk to them about God and Jesus, my team and I take church to the children.

It started a few years back when I was teaching in my classroom and overheard two little boys discussing God and Jesus. I was shocked to discover one little boy -- 10 years old and here in America -- had never heard of either God or Jesus. I stopped right there and prayed, "Lord, send someone to teach these children ..."

Well, it turns out I am someone. For the past 5 years I have been teaching Sidewalk Sunday School (on Saturdays) on that school's playground -- even though I am no longer on their teaching staff.

I found your site by following a WW link and I am glad I did!

Hey honey, thank you for your comment. I had to smile from ear to ear when I saw "beloved" in my little comment box.

Laura, thanks for the heads up, I will go visit you in a minute. I know these are things that the Lord must be impressing on our hearts for a reason.

Disciple, thank you so much for your comment. I enjoyed reading about your ministry over on your blog. Thank you so much for sharing. Thank you for taking the time to get involved and taking the initiatve to help those children. Amen.

Mrs. B, yes, I read that earlier in the week about your flowers. I just haven't had a chance to comment with everything going on over here. I very much appreciated your post on that. It spoke to my heart as well. The Lord seems to always meet us where we are at.

Shereen, God's picking on me and you're helping. lol This is what I feel I've been doing for too long...I didn't let them play in the middle of the street...just on the edge, at the white line and now I am having to drag one of them to the side kicking and screaming because, although he can't see it, I can see what's coming down the road. I so wish I'd had a supportive community like this one when my kids were little. Life may be so different. (not that it's horrible..just unnecessarily harder).

Wonderful thoughts you are sharing. I like what have said that God gives us everything as a 'loan' to us and we really need to take care of it. That is how I see my husband and our son...
Thank you for your wonderful insight.

Lisa, you made my eyes watery. Thank you so much for sharing. I will keep you and your children in my prayers. Thank for the warning, that even then playing on "the edge" is a danger.

Eph28:10 thank you very much. I try to keep that in mind. They are not mine, but His. I'm off to go look up Eph. 28:10 lol ;0)

Mrs. Blythe, thank you very much. Blogger has been tempermental lately.

OreoSouza, thank you very much, that means a lot to me.

Proverbs 31 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Pr 31:10-31
