Sew Crafty Friday

I had good intentions this week. I wanted to start sewing some skirts for myself and the girls. However, when I went into my closet to get the fabric, this is what stared back at me. Mind you, this is only a corner of the mess...um, I mean fabric. I, in good conscious, could not sit down to sew knowing I had such a mess of fabric in the closet.

Let the organization begin. ;0) First the blues....

and then the pinks.

I have a lot more done, and a lot more to go, but I didn't want to bore you with each color cube. ;0)

I did find two fabrics that I want to use for my skirts. I will have to line this one, as it's kind of sheer.

And this one. I normally use cheapo fabrics, but my beloved has been trying to convince me to use "good" fabric for my skirts, so they can flow better. We'll see how they come out.
I am declaring next week sewing and garage week. I plan to declutter the garage and have a sewing marathon. I'm hoping the girls can help me cut out some patterns and fabric, and I can sew, sew, sew. They are growing like bean poles, and some new skirts are desperately needed.

In my quest of organization, I found an apron pattern that I had purchased. I completely forgot about it. It's on my to do list. ;0)

So tell me, what have you done lately? You could share anything that you have sewed, knitted, crocheted, scrapbooked, etc. We like to see it all!! Just leave your blog linked up in the Mr. Linky below. Leave a quick one sentence blurb on your blog leading people back here. The only reason I ask you to link back here is so that others may possibly be able to join. The more the merrier. If you don't have a blog, or are making it as a gift for someone, just email me your pictures, and I will post them here. Happy Crafting!!So tell me, what have you done lately? A garage marathon...Ooh I need to have about 50 of those. LOL. I've got about 6 years worth of clutter in my garage. Isn't that terrible. Take pictures when you start. Maybe it will motivate me to get out there and do the same! ":-)

Listen to your sweetie and start using some good fabrics! You'll find your garments will last a lot longer. I would bet you can find some great cottons on sale now that it is the end of the season. I have nice fabric, but I never, ever pay full price. Someone always has a sale.
I love the way you organize your fabric by color. I think that will really inspire you to keep working. I do that with my scraps (they are in various baskets), but since I don't have a huge stash of full pieces I divide those up by type.
One thing I do is keep a notebook where I list my fabrics and how much I have of each. This way, when I take out a pattern, I know what pieces I might be able to use.

Proverbs 31 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Pr 31:10-31
